Robert and Julia’s Safari Honeymoon

A great cocktail bar at the Arusha Hotel. It’s the first night of our honeymoon and we hope to celebrate in style.

The Porinis Terrace is a great restaurant at the Arusha Hotel where we can enjoy our first meal in Africa.

We’ll be staying at the Arusha Hotel. Stylish and luxurious, we’ll have to decide between the swimming pool or landscaped gardens. Ahh life’s tough….

The most exciting way to see Africa! There is nothing to compare with being in our own camp with the sights and sounds of nature close at hand.

We are going to Africa to see the wildlife, enjoy the beautiful landscapes, and be as close to the rhythm of nature as possible and this is as close as it gets!

Our mobile camp site moves to follow the Great Migration across the Serengeti while providing an unprecedented level of luxury and service. This will truly be a magical once-in-a- lifetime experience.

Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is perched on the edge of the world-famous Crater. While we’re there we will have our own lounge and dining room which overlook the collapsed volcano - the views should be spectacular!

We can’t wait to stay here, one of the most architecturally stunning venues in the world. It’s actually built into the crater itself - we’ll be staying in a volcano!

We’ll be staying in tree houses! Of course it’s a tree house with amazing facilities but still it’s a tree house!

The Tree Lodge is the only place to stay in the whole of the Manyara National Park and there are only 10 tree houses. A remote oasis in the mahogany forest. Ah bliss…

An intimate private island off the coast of Zanzibar. We’ll be staying in a secluded paradise.

There are only 10 split level beach bandas on Mnemba Island, creating a sanctuary of peace and tranquility.

Mnemba Island Lodge is our own private castaway island. Only a mile wide and surrounded by coral reef, it’s sheer bliss.

The final night of our honeymoon is at Mnemba Island Lodge. A haven of serenity with its built-in barazas and outdoor swing beds. How can we ever leave?

Some of Hemingway’s greatest stories were inspired by the Safari experience. The Green Hills of Africa and The Snows of Kilimanjaro were written after his safaris in the Serengeti. Maybe we will pen great literary works too. Or perhaps we’ll just read them if you give us this gift.

An amazing cultural experience, a walking tour of the Maasai and Datoga tribes. Learning about their history is as fascinating as the views are breathtaking. We’ll visit a Maasai boma (traditional village) in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Enjoying a ‘sundowner’ on the verandah at Ngorongoro Serena with a glass of wine in our hand. It’s one of life’s great pleasures.

We’ll explore the roots of mankind on our half-day excursion to the famous archaeological site of Olduvai Gorge

We hope to go on an early morning game drive to see the nocturnal predators returning from hunting and the animals waking from their night’s slumber. They say it’s when Africa is at its most magical.

Ngorongoro offers a range of therapeutic treatments, from head and neck shoulder massages to aromatherapy sessions. Mmmmmm think we’ll definitely need it after all our exploring. But what to choose?

A driving tour to the “eighth wonder of the world” the world’s largest unbroken volcanic caldera, a truly awesome sight. We really hope we get to see the endangered black rhino.

A simply spectacular opportunity to spot hundreds of thousands of flamingos and pelicans. Apparently we may even see the “silvery-cheeked hornbill”. Oh my!

They say it’s an almost spritual experience to drive through the vast African plains lit only by the moon. A truly awe-inspiring journey.

An armed ranger will take us on a walking safari at the Northern Crater Rim of Ngorogoro. Inhabited by buffalo, elephants, baboons and monkeys.

A tour of the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world. The Serengeti plains are vast and home to up to 1.5 million animals including wildebeest, zebras and Thomson´s gazelles! We can’t wait to see this spectacular sight!

Entry in to this beautiful park, home to elephants, giraffes, buffalo, zebra, antelopes, monkeys, hippos, flamingoes, pelicans and hornbills. We may even get to see the Manyara lions!

We would love to do some watersports and the choice here is incredible. Maybe the kayaking, windsurfing or salt water fly-fishing? Ah such tough decisions…

A snorkelling adventure in the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean.

We’ll enjoy a leisurely afternoon riverboat cruise on Matetsi’s private stretch along the mighty Zambezi River. This is the perfect opportunity to spot Matetsi’s incredible birdlife, hippos and elephants while watching a glorious sunset.

The scuba diving here is simply amazing. The island is surrounded by spectacular coral reef. Offshore waters are filled with fish like marlin, barracuda and shark.

You know how much we love diving and this is the best there is to be found. Our honeymoon also coincides with whale migration time so if we’re very lucky…

Mnemba is renowned for its excellent Deep Sea Fishing. We’ll get a well-equipped boat complete with tackle and crew. Rob insists supper will be caught with his own two hands.

A breakfast of coffee, tea, fresh fruits and juices will be served to us at our tent with the morning wake-up call. Luxury!

At Lake Manyara, we’ll enjoy a delicious brunch on the lakeshore while viewing flocks of pelicans and flamingos with buffalo and hippos cooling in the water.

An open-air ‘Crater Barbecue Lunch’ by a hippo-filled pool on the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater’s. We’re thinking it’s going to be pretty amazing.

A luxurious breakfast, following our balloon flight, prepared and served in the bush with bone china, linen table cloths and King’s silver. An extravagant indulgance!

While staying in our luxury tent we can enjoy a delicious three-course gourmet meal cooked in the bush kitchen in the open air. They say it’s five star standard and we can’t wait to see.

World class dining in a tent! Breathtaking backdrops provide the perfect setting for a truly memorable experience. Mother nature will be our dining room out in the African wilderness.

Tables and chairs will be carried down to the water’s edge and we will dine by firelight and flickering lamps. The sound of lapping waves and a gentle breeze will make this our very own heaven on earth.
